Website

Personal Information

In order to provide the Moto Dash Cloud ride sharing service, we need to collect personal information for the purposes of logging users in, and also displaying user data for each shared ride. This functionality is completely opt-in and user-initiated and by sharing a ride, the user acknowledges and consents to the information being visible to anyone who has the generated link.

Information we collect for account purposes are: email address and name. Optionally, a user may supply a custom username and a profile picture.

Rides can be removed at any time from within the app should the user no longer wish to make the data publicly available. Accounts can also be closed, with all pertaining data removed by contacting us at support@moto-dash.com.

Moto Dash Cloud account information is not shared with third parties and is also not linked to any third party services.

Analytics

We use the privacy conscious platform Plausible for analytics. This is a cookieless solution which we consider to collect the mininum amount of anonymised, aggregate data which helps us understand our traffic.

Server Logs

Information about your visits may be captured in the server logs. Data would typically include IP address, URLs, URLs and access times.

Moto Dash App

Moto Dash leverages various third-party platforms to provide certain functionalities for both you and us to provide the best service possible.

Where they appear in the app, they may link off to their own sites.

These third parties may collect non-personally-identifiable information though we have done our best to choose the most privacy-sensitive platforms. We are not responsible for the collection of this data and we encourage you to check their privacy policies before deciding to use their services, all of which can be disabled in the app.

Below is a breakdown of which ones we use and for what.

Location Information

Moto Dash uses the device location to be able to capture the GPS coordinates of your rides. This is at the heart of our service. This GPS information is never transmitted to us and generally stays on-device unless iCloud backup is enabled (see Cloud Backup).

Mapping

To provide beautiful and functional maps for Premium users, the app uses the Mapbox and OpenStreetMap platforms.

Mapbox does collect anonymised usage data in order for them to improve their service. You can opt-out via the app Settings - Mapping section.

By default, the app uses Apple Maps for mapping, which follows Apple's data privacy policies.

Routing

Similarly to Mapping, Moto Dash makes use of the Mapbox routing service. Again, usage data collection can be disabled in Settings.

By default, the app uses Apple Maps for routing, which follows Apple's data privacy policies.

Place Search

In order to provide a useful routing and navigation service, Moto Dash makes use of the Google Maps geocoding and place search services.

By default, the app uses Apple Maps for place search, which follows Apple's data privacy policies.

Cloud Backup

We provide the facility to Premium users to back up all their app data in iCloud, to protect against data loss as a result of device loss or theft.

Backup information is never transmitted to us directly. It sent securely and privately to Apple's servers via their platform functionality and is never accessible to us.

Data backup can be toggled on or off via the app Settings.

Ride Sharing

We provide the aforementioned ability for users to upload their rides to our public Moto Dash Cloud service where a ride’s information may be viewed by anyone who has the generated unique link. This facility is opt-in per ride and totally within control of the user, including the ability to remove the ride completely from our service.

Subscriptions

In order to help us better understand our users and interaction with the app as well as provide support for any subscription issues, we use RevenueCat to manage and report on user subscriptions.

Crash Reporting

To help us fix and understand any app crashes we use App Center to capture debugging information for processing. Data is anonymised before being sent to us and cannot be used to identify you. Crash data is retained for 28 days.

You can opt out of crash reporting via the app Settings.

Apple may also collect their own app crash logs if permission was granted on the device.

Usage Analytics

We collect certain app usage information to help us understand where to focus our attention when improving and developing new features. We use Plausible for these purposes as we consider them to have a non-abusive data policy. As such, data is anonymised before being sent to us and cannot be used to identify you.

We collect high level usage pattern information used mainly to provide us with a picture of which features are used. This helps us focus our development efforts to provide a great experience.

By default, usage collection is enabled. You can opt out of usage analytics via the app Settings.
